Waveguide coax adapter

A waveguide coax adapter, also known as a waveguide-to-coaxial adapter or simply a waveguide adapter, is a device used to connect waveguides, which are structures that guide electromagnetic waves, to coaxial cables.

Coaxial cables are commonly used for transmitting radio frequency (RF) signals in various applications, including telecommunications, broadcasting, and radar systems. Waveguides, on the other hand, are used in high-frequency applications where low loss and high power handling capabilities are required, such as in microwave communication systems, radar systems, and satellite communications.

Waveguide coax adapters are designed to provide a transition between the waveguide and coaxial cable interfaces, allowing signals to pass between them with minimal loss and impedance mismatch. They typically consist of a section of waveguide on one end and a coaxial connector on the other end. The coaxial connector can be of various types, such as SMA, N-type, or TNC, depending on the specific application requirements.

These adapters are available in different sizes and frequency ranges to accommodate various waveguide sizes and operating frequencies. They play a crucial role in integrating different components of RF systems and ensuring efficient signal transmission between waveguides and coaxial cables.
